The Beautiful Stranger

She sits at the bus stop
Immaculate in her appearance
Her fine features and rosey complexion
Give off an air of sophistication
As does the book she reads
Is this just the walls of actuality
Or is this how it is?
Unaware of the longing of the Other
She concerns herself with her pages
As intently as she reads them
So does he read her
He means no harm but he has never seen
Anything so beautiful
Such is the agony
Of the spaces between people
When she sits so closely beside him
Yet she is so far away
